Few people think of refugees as artists, talented, independent, reliable, capable, contributors to society. Fewer still consider how asylum seekers fill their time while they wait indefinitely for an outcome in a place guided by unnecessarily rigid rules. Out of the Box will immerse you in these simple acts of resistance and the impact that incarceration has on each character's life.

When six individuals choose to plunge into parenthood alone, we witness their challenges, dilemmas and triumphs.

In Australia, all sorts of parental arrangements are currently emerging: co-parenting with your gay bestie, meeting someone online and exchanging sperm and eggs, freezing your eggs, becoming a single mum using IVF, or being a donor dad. This series explores this brave new landscape of child-rearing using humour, observation and stylised devices, and is told in separate parts from the mums’, dads’ and kids’ perspectives.
